OAI: Indiana Auto Insurance Bill Would Help Identify Uninsured Drivers
Posted on January 21st, 2012
A bill being considered by Indiana lawmakers that would require insurers to notify state transportation officials when they cancel private auto policies could make it more difficult for residents to skirt the states mandatory coverage requirements, according to Online Auto Insurance (OAI).
The proposed legislation should be of interest to Hoosier State residents who are having difficulty keeping up with payments on their policies or are planning on buying a no down payment auto insurance policy in order to register a vehicle and then canceling it once registration is in place.
Like most states, Indiana requires that motorists purchase a minimum amount of liability insurance to pay for any damages they may cause behind the wheel.

Most Popular Vehicles for Theives
Posted on January 16th, 2012
The crime of car theft has been on the decline for the last decade, largely because sophisticated GPS and anti theft devices have made stealing newer model cars more difficult. 55% of vehicles stolen in 2010 were recovered. Theives are adaptable though and the most popular targets for car theft are not hard to steal, late model, luxury cars, they are older cars. Honda Accords and Toyota Camrys from the mid 1990s are the most stolen cars in America.
Why Steal Old Cars?
When it comes to old Hondas and Camrys, the total car is worth less than the sum of the parts.
Gap year travel: what to put in if you plan to take a year out
Posted on January 11th, 2012
Until now, most young people have regarded taking a gap year between school and higher education as a well-deserved period of rest and recreation after four years of exams.
But not any more: the near trebling of tuition fees by many colleges and universities from October 2012 – combined with escalating unemployment – means that many aspiring students can no longer take time out.
Because of the threat of higher fees, the number of people applying to defer a university place dropped from 16,000 in 2010 to 6,000 last year.
Among those who still aimed to take time out, American Express found that 43% planned to earn money and gain work experience, while less than one in five thought they could spend the time relaxing.
Research for gapyear.com found that 63% of HR professionals thought a year spent volunteering or gaining work experience overseas made a job application stand out, while 85% agreed relevant work experience was more valuable than the average non-vocational degree.
Tim Fenton, general manager of gapyear.com, says: “Interest in volunteering or working abroad is definitely on the rise, as are more challenging destinations like south-east Asia and South America.
“It is important when you sit down in front of a prospective employer to have a good story to tell and a well spent gap year is a great way to create that story.”
Students who have scrambled to get their university applications in to Ucas by the 15 January closing date face another, much bigger, task — to ensure they have enough money to see them through their chosen course.
From September 2012 the government will offer two types of loan.
New full-time students in England and Wales will be able to borrow up to £9,000 for tuition fees in the 2012/13 academic year. They c

What Kind of Insurance is Tax Deductible?
Posted on December 31st, 2011
Along with the hot wheels, cool trim, leather interior and killer sound system, your sports car came with another line item add-on that wasn’t part of the MSRP: sports car automobile insurance. Insuring your shiny fast ride can add thousands of dollars to cost of ownership over the life of the car…unless you’re a savvy shopper. Here’s what you need to know to help you find cheap sports car insurance (or at least reasonably priced). For starters, different insurance companies have different definitions of what is and isn’t a sports car. This is typically based on a VIN (vehicle identification number) system published by the Insurance Services Office or the company’s own ranking system. Either syst

Saab owner? Add gap to your car insurance
Posted on December 30th, 2011
Saab’s 20-year death spiral ended Monday with a liquidation filing in a Swedish court.
That’s bad news for the “Born from Jets” automaker’s hardcore fans, whose hopes for a Chinese rescue had been dashed again and again and are now gone for good.
Customer service and the processing of the application was simple.
And it’s worse news for the 9,000 or so buyers who braved a Saab dealership since General Motors set the marque free in February 2010. The company
