A19 roadworks cause disruptions for car insurance policyholders
Posted on May 12th, 2010
Motor insurance policyholders in the north east of England face delays on the A19 due to maintenance taking place over the coming weeks.
Resurfacing work is set to begin in Sunderland, between the A183 Chester Road and A1231 Hylton Grange junctions, which means overnight closures of the northbound carriageway from tomorrow as well as daytime speed restrictions.
Keith Polson, general manager of contractor Autolink, said: “The works are essential to strengthen and resurface the road, to provide a more even running surface and new road markings.”
He went on to explain that the work would mainly be done during the night “to minimise disruption to road users” on the busy section of road.
The firm carrying out the repairs have urged all road users to approach this section of the A19 with additional caution, taking note of any diversion signs and adhering to the mandatory 50mph speed limit.
All works are scheduled for completion on May 27th
